Selling Art to Fund Moore Art

I am trying to sell some art,
so I can afford to do some more.

I have a few bow holders that I created.

All of them are ready to hang and have a long pink ribbon to attach bows.
They have been sitting in my closet for a long time because they did not sell when I tried ETSY.
What a failure that was.
Make an offer.

Next is just a piece I did on a round wooden plaque I had lying around the house.
I don't really expect this to go, but you never know.
It is on a six inch circular plaque.

Lastly are two paintings on 16 x 20 canvases.
Both are done with acrylic paint.
Not framed, but the sides of the canvas are painted black.
They really do look better than the photos.
I have got to get better at taking pictures.

Large Wave Mural

I did a mural at church for our Vacation Bible School.
This is the largest painting I have ever done.
It is on the back wall of the stage, which is 12 feet tall.

I took pictures along the way to share with you.
All of the pictures were taken with my phone, so they are not the best, but I think you can get the idea.

First I sketched out a rough idea with chalk and started filling in some of the white.

Then I filled in some of the green in the wave and tree, as well as the beach, with latex house paint.

For the next step I started using spray paint. I filled in some of the darker blue for the wave. Yellow for the sun came next.

Now some orange in the sun,some greens and blues for the waves, detail for the palm, and some lighter browns for the beach.

After all of the color is in place it is time to outline in black.

Here is a shot from the back of the room to give you an idea of the scale. The room next to the mural is a drum enclosure, which would be painted at a later date to look like a surf shack.

After sitting behind a curtain for a few weeks, Bible School time arrived. Here is the finished surf shack. After painting the walls light brown, some black outlined the bamboo, and some brown spray paint added detail.

Ideas and Sketches and the Bible

I love the Bible.
It is full of interesting stories, all of which I believe are absolutely true.
Yes, God created the universe.
Yes, there was an Adam and Eve who introduced sin into the world.
Yes, There is a Jesus who paid the price for that sin by dying on the cross and rising from the dead.

This leads me to my next project, or set of projects.

I am illustrating some of my favorite stories from the Bible.
I want to draw them as I picture them happening.
I started today with a few rough sketches.
I will choose my favorites and paint them on canvas. I can't do them all as supplies cost money and I don't have much of that.

It's Been a While Since My Last Post

I have been painting a lot, and I like it.

I haven't posted in a while because life has been running at a frantic pace.

Decided to slow down and relive a little of it with you.

I just finished a couple of shirts for a lady I work with.

She is going on a trip with a friend she has had for 50 years.

Pretty cool.

Simple text with no design, but I think it works.

Remember though that my photo skills are extremely lacking,

and this one was taken on my phone.

I did a couple of pillow cases as birthday presents.

Quite a few Field day shirts for my sister and her friends.

And a bunch of softball helmets.

Here are a few of my favorites.




I did several of this multi-colored zebra stripe type of design.

This is just a small portion of what I have been up to.

I have done a bunch of airbrush work, but I would like to attack another canvas or guitar.

I am also starting a writing project about my experience with losing my infant daughter, Maddie.

Prayers would be appreciated for that endeavor, it is proving to be tougher than I thought.

I am also trying to figure out a way to begin some sort of art ministry.

Once again, prayers would be great.

Sketches and Doodles

I like to play around with a lot of ideas.

This first sketch is based on Revelation 5:5 from the Bible.

It is a tattoo idea I have had for a while.

Funding is the only reason this one is not on me yet.

I am, however, going to translate this idea into a painting for my five year old who loves The Chronicles of Narnia.

She loves it so much she talks in a british accent from time to time and wants to change her name to Lucy.

The next two are quick drawings colored with colored pencil that I did as an art lesson for my class.

These are inspired by Drew Brophy, one of my favorite artists.

Finally, some doodles I did during a meeting at school.

I know what you are thinking, but doodling actually helps me focus and pay attention.

Oddly enough if I don't draw I have trouble listening to the presenter.

Airbrushed Banner

Did a banner for a friend's literacy night at her school.

I am having fun creating new characters on my own rather than trying to imitate someone else's work.

I looked at some real people throwing dough on google images and created this guy:

Took the rough sketch and airbrushed it much larger on a sheet to create a banner.

Looking at this picture I just now realized he has no fingernails, oops.

A Few For A Friend

It's been a while and I can't sleep, so I'll share a few recent pieces I did for a friend.

I really like being able to create things with a purpose in mind.

If I just let my mind wander I usually come up with some pretty strange stuff.

Stuff that I like, but often gets the reaction of the obligatory, "That's nice."

Except from Camie, who will tell me, "That's cool, but you're not hanging that in here."

I much prefer Camie's honest opinion.

Anyway, here are a few for a friend:
